Is there a gap in education?

Can we measure the distance between us and education? Or is there a concept of distance in education today?

Thanks to computer technology and web-based education, there is no distance in education anymore. Web-based training is implemented, yes, but in fact, software called Learning management system (LMS) is required to be implemented.

So what is LMS?

It is the software that provides functions such as presenting and sharing materials prepared for educational purposes, managing lessons, managing homework, managing exams, creating reports, controlling the progress in the learning process and providing feedback.

Okay, What is the point?

The purpose of LMS is to carry out, manage and report all activities within the learning process in a planned manner but I think there is a point that such systems overlook. Individual differences between students are not taken into account. I think students using the same LMS should not be seen as individuals with the same characteristics.

What do you think are the most important basic functions of LMS?

• To keep students in contact with both their classmates and their teachers.

• Creating classes and broadcasting various lectures and activities.

• To enable teachers to analyze and report the learning process of students, namely their participation and development in the lesson.

I believe, in online lessons, the impact and importance of the LMS and the teacher in the learning process are equal. Therefore, these systems should be used correctly and effectively by both students and teachers.
